ANDERSON STUDIO’S DIGITAL ART REQUIREMENTS

CAMERA READY ARTWORK

Will require scanning and cleanup if more than 1 color. Fax for art quote. Be sure to always include a color printout of the art you expect to receive.

ACCEPTABLE PROGRAM AND FILES:

Adobe Illustrator (vector): Best for spot color logos & text on wearables, mousepads, and pins.

Artwork is best accepted as an .ai or .eps extension with the fonts converted to outlines or included on the disk/ e-mail/ etc.

If images are placed in the file, the originals must be included. (note: Photoshop images placed in illustrator do not make them automatic spot color images)

Freehand and Coreldraw 8 (ONLY) (vector): Best for spot color logos & text on all jobs. Both are best accepted with program extensions.

FH and .cdr, with fonts convened to curves or included, but the more gradients, the more art time will be involved.

If images are placed in the file, the originals must be included.

Quark (NOT used for creating graphics): This program is used primarily for output. It works well for combined graphics from multiple files.

Art is best sent full size with all placed images (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and fonts included (select “file”, then “collect for output” ).

Photoshop (raster NOT good for spot color logos): Best for Photos, etc. printed with 4-Color Process or spot separations.

Art is best accepted as an .eps, .psd, or .tif extension at full size and 300 dpi (min 200 dpi)-any lower will produce jagged edges. If there are halftones in the image, bitmaps are not acceptable. Spot color is best done in “channels”.

JPEG files are used for viewing purposes ONLY: they are unacceptable as production files.

E-mail: (Recommended for vector art only) Large Photoshop or image files should be sent on disk, NOT by e-mail.

Art is best sent as an .ai, .eps, .psd, .tif, .FH, .cdr, .sea, or.zip (for e-mail sent from an IBM computer, multiple Tile attachments can be a problem, so please send each file as its own separate e-mail).

IMPORTANT: Fonts sent from an IBM will not work on Mac. Always convert fonts to outlines/ paths. We do accept IBM zipped (without the self-extracting program) and Mac Stuffit files.

UNACCEPTABLE PROGRAMS AND FILES:

Files ending with .jpg and .gif- these are low-resolution files that are only good for viewing art and on-screen web graphics. Most cases will require art re-creation.

Files ending with .vcf and .doc, which is an extension from Microsoft Word that cannot be opened.

Powerpoint and AutoCAD there is no way to export the file to something we can use.

Pagemaker is a program that is virtually incompatible with what we use so is considered unacceptable.

ART APPROVAL

All new artwork or copy changes are approved by fax or e-mail with receipt. Pre-Production proofs, color copies, and e-mails are available.

COMPUTER COMPATIBILITY

We are Macintosh compatible ( Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXPress, Freehand, and CorelDraw 8 formats or compatibles ONLY).

We accept Zip, Jaz, Syquest, CD-Rom, and the standard 3.5” disks. Please include file and color print out of art with disk.

CUSTOMER SEPARATIONS

Process separations supplied by the customer will not be accepted. Our separations are created specifically for garments and other products printed in our plant. Please let us prepare your separations. Spot color halftones should also be done by us to account for proper dot gain

In the text of your email, please include the following information:

Purchase order number, your company name, your contact name & phone number, the name and version of the application used to create the artwork sent, and be sure to include all imported graphics which should be in eps or tiff format.
